Who we are
No Bully® is
a San Francisco based initiative developed and directed by Nicholas Carlisle.
No Bully works in collaboration with other experts in the fields
of education, psychology and law.
Having endured four years of bullying while at school, Nicholas Carlisle is committed to creating school cultures where every child feels included and valued by their peers. Nicholas graduated with a bachelors and masters degree from Oxford University, qualified as a lawyer with a human rights focus and was chairman of the non-profit section of Amnesty International in Britain. In 1997 he came to California and began his work of helping schools put an end to student bullying and harassment. He researched with Eric Rofes the effects of school bullying (published in 2007 in the Journal of Traumatology) and has presented at the North Coast Education Summit, the Pacific Sociological Association and the California League of Middle Schools. Nicholas has worked in the field of education, with some breaks, for over twenty-five years, first as a math teacher, and then as a school counselor, child therapist and educational consultant. He holds a masters in psychology and is licensed as a psychotherapist in California.
