"I have facilitated four solution teams since attending the No Bully training. The solution teams ranged from 2nd grade to 8th grade. I had to write to let you know they have had a 100% success rate. We showed the video clip from the No Bully website at the Parent's Club and the parents at our school are very appreciative of the "no bully" atmosphere we have created." Linda Ogle, Seventh Grade Teacher, Madera CA
Solution Team®
Most schools lack any effective bullying response system. Classroom discussions are ineffectual and punishment generally leads to retaliation and makes the target’s situation worse. No Bully developed Solution Team® as way of engaging student empathy to end the bullying of one of their peers. Research shows that Solution Team resolves incidents of bullying in 80 percent of cases, making it one of the most effective anti-bullying interventions ever.
What is Solution Team®?
Solution Team is a series of structured meetings that any educator or counselor can learn to help a student that is being bullied. Under Solution Team, an adult team leader brings together a team of students to stop the bullying of one of their peers. The leader describes how it feels to be in the target’s shoes and asks the team to solve this situation. The team includes the bully, the bully-followers and some positive leaders from the same peer group.
What is Solution Coach®?
Solution Team is likely to resolve bullying situations in the vast majority of cases. Sometimes, though, the students involved in bullying need additional coaching, especially if they are habituated to the roles of bully or target. No Bully developed Solution Coach as a protocol that educators can implement to ensure these students develop missing social and emotional skills. Educators that use this approach report that they experience stronger and more trusting connections with all of their students.
How effective are the No Bully interventions?
We have been stunned by the positive reception that Solution Team and Coach have received. Educators from elementary schools, high schools, after-school, and juvenile justice settings are reporting almost universal success. They tell us that Solution Team is not a one-day wonder but supports sustained change. A research study carried out by Dr. Alyssa Steiger in 2010 confirms what they say: Solution Team resolves incidents of bullying in 80% of cases, and this benefit remains true three months later. Solution Team is also a powerful lesson in applied empathy for students on the team. Over time, Solution Team helps schools to develop a culture where students are willing to break the code of silence and speak out against bullying.

Bring Solution Team and Coach to your school. No Bully recommends that every school has a core group of staff trained in these new best practices. Here are ways to make that happen.
Schedule a Solution Team & Coach in-service for your school. This one-day workshop will give staff the skills to successfully address student bullying. The training also deepens staff ability to access and communicate empathy and will help to promote a culture of basic kindness at your campus. Click here to download information on this one-day inservice. Travel costs apply to schools outside the San Francisco Bay Area.
Get trained for free! Host a Solution Team & Coach workshop open to all educators in your area. If you are able to host our one-day workshop and to help us register between 30 and 60 participants from your area, you get between 3 and 5 of your staff trained for free. Schools sometimes partner with another interested local school or organization to help fill this workshop. Click here to download information on hosting.
Register for a one-day public workshop.Click here to check where Solution Team workshops are being held closest to you.
Send one of your staff to our training of trainers. They can then train the staff at your school, and at any other schools in your area. Contact us at the No Bully office for information on the next training.
"We've run about fourteen solution teams this year. Not only has it stopped the bullying in every case, but we are seeing mutual respect now between the students. It taps into the fundamental human value that everyone is good at heart." Greg Barnes, Assistant Principal, Bowditch Middle School
