Workshops and Trainings
No Bully® offers
schools a choice of workshops to raise consciousness about bullying, to
motivate action and to train all parts of the school community in preventing
its occurrence.
In-service teacher
training on bullying.
In this introductory workshop, teachers become consistent in their understanding
of bullying and are sensitized
to the diversity issues of race, class and non-compliance with gender
expectations that so often underpin these student behaviors. Teachers
frequently report to us that they freeze when confronted with bullying.
In order to counter this, we use small group discussion and role-plays
to practice immediate verbal interventions to bullying. Teachers take
from this workshop a new appreciation of how to use bullying as an opportunity
to engage their classrooms in values clarification.
Advanced level in-service teacher training.
Even when schools are committed to bully-free campuses, students still find themselves caught up in conflict. The No Bully advanced level training gives faculty members the skills to quickly and effectively facilitate solutions to individual student conflicts. We also introduce teachers to the Solution Team™ response to bullying, in which an adult facilitator pulls together a group of student to solve the bullying of one of their peers. No Bully has trained many California schools in how to use the Solution Team™ response. Many schools have made Solution Team™ the centerpiece of their anti-bullying policy.
Workshop for parents and guardians.
A two-hour workshop for parents to partner with their school in creating a safe school campus. We provide information about the nature of bullying, and take parents in small groups through scenarios that their children typically face. We give particular focus to cyberbullying and internet safety. We share insights about what parents can do whose children are involved either as bullies or targets. We educate parents about their role in creating a safe school and facilitate discussion about how parents can partner with their school in raising children who will stand up to bullying and harassment.
Playback Theatre
Performance.
A team of trained actors and musicians "play back" your students
stories of friendship, teasing and bullying. Drama has long been seen
as the most direct way to speak to children and adolescents. Through the
enactment of stories told by their peers, the impact of bullying behaviors
is deeply felt and the foundations of empathy are created. The length
of this performance is approximately one and a half hours.
Keynote speech: How to create a bully-free school.
Student harassment, bullying and intimidation affect all schools. Teachers and administrators devote many hours to helping children with their peers, but little seems to work. This keynote outlines how visionary schools have addressed student bullying to create cultures that reflect the values of their school. This keynote brings you the latest research and best practices on how to lead an anti-bullying initiative. Audience members leave feeling inspired motivated to be part of the change at their school.

motivated our counselors and therapists to integrate a whole new
set of techniques into our work with families, children and organizations."
